The 2020 Heartland Dolcetto is a vibrant Langhorne Creek red crafted by Ben Glaetzer from a single vineyard planted on sandy loam over limestone. The nose shows ripe plum and wild forest berries with red cherry, almond and fresh sage, giving this Italian variety a distinctly bright Australian expression.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and juicy, with plum and red cherry supported by soft tannins and refreshing acidity. The wine spent nine months in stainless steel with no oak maturation, preserving its fresh fruit and aromatic character. The finish is smooth, lively and gently savoury.
