The 2022 Bindi Block 8 Pinot Noir is a powerful and highly refined single-vineyard Pinot Noir from Bindi in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges. Block 8 is a tiny 0.75-hectare, north-west facing vineyard planted in 2016 on quartz-rich volcanic soils, with exceptionally high-density plantings of mostly 11,300 vines per hectare and an experimental section reaching 22,600 vines per hectare. Seven different Pinot Noir clones are planted across the site, creating a wine of remarkable depth, complexity and structure. Production is extremely limited, with the 2022 yielding only around 150 cases.
On the palate, the 2022 is concentrated, vibrant and beautifully textured, showing raspberry and red cherry alongside floral notes, herbs and exotic spice. The texture is creamy and energetic, with velvety tannins gradually building through the palate into a very long and structured finish. The wine was fermented naturally with around 5% whole bunches before spending approximately 15 months in French oak, around 50% new, giving it impressive depth while retaining purity and freshness.
