The 2021 Quin Wines Eden Valley Shiraz is a single-vineyard Shiraz from the Hampton Vineyard on Menglers Hill, sitting around 450 metres above sea level. Planted in 1982 to the BVRC30 clone, the vines grow on silty sandy loam over red ironstone clay with schist at depth. The nose shows blueberry and mulberry alongside violet, slate and savoury mushroom notes.
On the palate, it combines impressive fruit concentration with the finesse expected from elevated Eden Valley Shiraz. Dark berry fruit is supported by a persistent grainy tannin structure, savoury complexity and excellent length. The fruit was destemmed into an open-top fermenter, spent ten days on skins and was basket pressed before maturation for 18 months in seasoned French oak. Only 155 cases were produced.

At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Shiraz drinkers who enjoy structured Eden Valley reds with concentrated fruit, floral aromatics and savoury complexity. With several years of bottle development, it can be enjoyed now or cellared further. Ideal with roast lamb, grilled beef, slow-cooked meats, mushroom dishes or aged cheeses.
