The 2020 Quin Wines Eden Valley Shiraz is a single-vineyard Shiraz from the Hampton Vineyard on Mengler Hill, sitting around 450 metres above sea level. Planted in 1982, this elevated site produces a distinctive expression showing Satsuma plum, blueberry and boysenberry alongside violet, sage, fine spice and earthy notes.
On the palate, it is concentrated and structured with blackberry and plum fruit, bright acidity and layers of savoury spice, liquorice and red earth. The fruit was destemmed and spent 10 days on skins before maturation for 18 months in older, seasoned French oak, allowing the fruit and site character to remain prominent. Fine, dusty tannins provide structure and a persistent finish.

At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Shiraz drinkers who enjoy structured Eden Valley reds with concentrated dark fruit, savoury complexity and fine tannins. With several years of bottle development, it is drinking well now with further cellaring potential. Ideal with roast lamb, grilled beef, slow-cooked meats, mushroom dishes or aged cheeses.
