The 2023 Benoît Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes Rouge is an elegant Pinot Noir from Chassagne-Montrachet in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, sourced from two small parcels of 50-year-old vines below the village. Fermented with around 10% whole bunches and matured in 15% new French oak, the wine highlights the finesse and growing reputation of Chassagne's red wines. The nose is fragrant with aromas of red cherry, crushed strawberry and raspberry, complemented by violet, gentle spice and subtle earthy notes.

On the palate, it is medium-bodied with silky tannins, bright natural acidity and a refined, lively texture. Flavours of fresh red berries, plum and delicate spice are supported by subtle oak and mineral freshness, leading to a long, balanced finish. The old vines and restrained winemaking preserve the purity of the fruit while giving the wine the structure to develop gracefully with age.

Ben's Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Burgundy lovers seeking a beautifully balanced village Pinot Noir with elegance and ageing potential. Pair it with roast duck, herb-roasted chicken, mushroom risotto, pork tenderloin or aged Comté. Enjoy after a short decant, or cellar for the next 10–15 years as it develops greater savoury complexity and finesse.
