The 2022 Domaine Bruno Clair Marsannay Les Grasses Têtes is 100% Pinot Noir from a distinctive vineyard in Burgundy’s northern Côte de Nuits, combining concentrated fruit with the firm structure associated with this cuvée. Based in Marsannay-la-Côte, Domaine Bruno Clair farms 2.27 hectares within Les Grasses Têtes, with plantings dating from 1950, 1970, 1973 and 1990. The southeast-facing parcels sit at approximately 300 metres altitude, on clay-limestone soils over Comblanchien and fossil-bearing limestone. These mature vines provide the foundation for a substantial Marsannay, while the vineyard’s exposure and elevation contribute to its balance of ripeness, freshness and definition.
The 2022 offers raspberry, strawberry, blackberry and black plum, with touches of fig, dark chocolate and savoury mineral detail. Its generous fruit is framed by lively acidity and firm tannins, giving the palate both depth and persistence. Charles Curtis MW awarded 94 Points for Decanter, highlighting its concentration, power and fruit purity, with more than 30% whole clusters used in fermentation. Jasper Morris MW’s early assessment of 91–93 Points similarly emphasised its dense berry fruit and youthful tannic austerity. William Kelley awarded 90–91 Points for The Wine Advocate, describing a lively, concentrated wine with considerable promise as it develops.
