The 2022 Arnaud Mortet Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru is a distinguished Pinot Noir from the historic Mazoyères-Chambertin Grand Cru in Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy. Sourced from 0.45 hectares of mature vines planted on deep clay-rich soils, the wine is crafted with around 30% whole-bunch fermentation, indigenous yeasts and matured for two winters in 70% new French oak before being bottled unfiltered. The nose is beautifully layered with aromas of cassis, mulberry and black cherry, complemented by floral notes, earth, smoke and subtle spice.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity and impressive concentration. Dark berry fruit is framed by mineral depth and savoury complexity, leading to a long, powerful finish with exceptional precision. The clay-rich terroir gives the wine added richness and structure while maintaining the elegance and balance that define Arnaud Mortet's style.
Ben's Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is an outstanding choice for Burgundy collectors seeking a Grand Cru Pinot Noir with depth, structure and remarkable ageing potential. Pair it with roast duck, venison, beef Wellington, wild mushroom dishes or aged Comté. While approachable after careful decanting, it is best enjoyed from 2028 onwards and will continue to evolve beautifully over the next 20–25 years.
