The 2021 Yangarra High Sands Grenache Magnum (1500ml) is a single-block McLaren Vale Grenache from dry-grown bush vines planted in 1946. Sourced from Yangarra’s highest old-vine Grenache block at 210 metres, its deep sandy soils produce a fragrant wine showing cherry, raspberry and pomegranate with dried herbs, rose and savoury spice.
On the palate, it is concentrated yet finely balanced, with vibrant acidity, layered red fruit and persistent, fine-grained tannins. Wild fermentation is followed by 11 months on lees in Austrian and French oak, puncheons and ceramic eggs, building texture while retaining freshness.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for collectors seeking one of Yangarra’s most distinctive old-vine Grenache expressions. The 1.5L magnum format is particularly well suited to long-term cellaring. Ideal with roast lamb, chargrilled pork, duck or Mediterranean-style dishes.
