2024 Aphelion The Affinity Grenache Mourvèdre is a vibrant McLaren Vale blend that highlights the natural synergy between Grenache’s bright fruit and Mourvèdre’s savoury structure. Crafted by winemaker Rob Mack, the wine combines fruit from Seaview Grenache vineyards with Mourvèdre from White’s Valley, delivering a balanced and expressive Rhône-inspired style.
On the nose, lifted aromas of strawberry, raspberry and morello cherry mingle with dried herbs, blood orange, cracked pepper and subtle spice. The palate shows impressive purity and flow, offering juicy red fruit layered with earthy, savoury complexity and finely textured tannins that provide structure without heaviness. Bright acidity and a persistent finish make the wine both elegant and highly food-friendly.
Critics have praised the wine for its balance and finesse, with Halliday Wine Companion describing finely wrought yet chewy tannins and a fresh, energetic finish, awarding the wine 93 points.
