The 2024 Laughing Jack Jack’s GSM is a classic Barossa Valley blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Shiraz and 10% Mourvèdre, sourced from the Kalleske family's sustainably farmed vineyards at Moppa Hill and Greenock. Old-vine Grenache from the sandy soils of Moppa provides aromatic lift and spice, while Shiraz and Mourvèdre contribute depth, structure and complexity. The wine is hand-picked, fermented in small open fermenters and matured for 18 months in seasoned French oak puncheons.
The nose shows wild cherry, raspberry and blueberry layered with mixed spice, violet, truffle and a touch of pepper. Medium-bodied and silky, the palate is packed with vibrant red and dark fruits, savoury earthy notes and finely balanced tannins. Fresh acidity and seamless texture make for a generous yet highly drinkable GSM with excellent balance and length.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A consistently outstanding Barossa GSM that delivers remarkable value and drinkability. The bright fruit, spice and savoury complexity make it a perfect match for grilled lamb, slow-cooked beef, wood-fired pizza, charcuterie and Mediterranean dishes. Delicious now, but with enough structure to cellar comfortably through 2032–2034.
