MAZI

Mazi is a boutique McLaren Vale wine label founded by lifelong friends Toby Porter and Alex Katsaros, united by a shared passion for Mediterranean wine styles and food-friendly winemaking. The name Mazi, meaning "together" in Greek, reflects both the founders' friendship and their philosophy that great wine is best enjoyed around the table with family and friends. Since releasing their first wine in 2016, Mazi has earned a strong reputation for producing elegant, vibrant wines inspired by Southern Europe while remaining unmistakably South Australian.

Fruit is sourced exclusively from family-owned vineyards in McLaren Vale, including old-vine sites that have been farmed across generations. The region's Mediterranean climate, cooling sea breezes, and diverse ancient soils provide ideal conditions for varieties such as Grenache, Mourvèdre (Mataro), Cinsault, and the rare Greek variety Mavrodaphne. Mazi works closely with growers who prioritise sustainable vineyard practices and minimal intervention, allowing each vineyard to express its natural character.

Mazi is particularly recognised for its distinctive range of rosé wines, which have become some of the most highly regarded examples from McLaren Vale. The portfolio includes Grenache Rosé, Mataro-Cinsault-Grenache Rosé, Mavrodaphne Rosé, and limited-release bottlings that combine bright red berry fruit, citrus, floral aromatics, refreshing acidity, and savoury texture. In addition to rosé, the winery also produces small-batch reds such as Tora, showcasing Mediterranean varieties in a fresh, restrained style that pairs beautifully with food.

Fruit is hand harvested where appropriate, with wild fermentation, gentle extraction, and restrained oak use helping preserve varietal purity and regional expression.
