2022 Loimer Loiserberg Riesling from Kamptal is a single-vineyard (Erste Lage) Riesling that shows remarkable precision and mineral intensity. The nose is highly expressive and layered, with aromas of lime, green apple and grapefruit, alongside jasmine, elderflower and subtle ginger spice. A strong flinty, stony character runs through the aromatics, giving the wine a distinctly terroir-driven, mineral profile.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is exactly the kind of Riesling we position as a “serious, terroir-driven Austrian Riesling”. Compared to entry-level Riesling, this is more structured, mineral and age-worthy, sitting firmly in the premium category. If a customer enjoys Chablis, dry German Riesling or high-end Australian Riesling, this is a very strong recommendation. It’s precise, saline and food-driven — perfect with seafood, sashimi or lightly spiced Asian dishes. While already impressive, it will evolve beautifully over the next 8–12+ years, gaining more complexity and depth.
