The 2015 Lacourte-Godbillon Mont Âme–Migerats Premier Cru is an exceptional Blanc de Noirs Champagne from Écueil and Les Mesneux in the Montagne de Reims, crafted by the family-owned Lacourte-Godbillon estate. Made from 100% Pinot Noir sourced from two old-vine parcels planted in 1967, the wine is fermented in French oak barrels, aged on lees for around five years, and finished with a very low dosage of 1g/L. Aromas of ripe citrus, red apple, brioche and toasted almond are complemented by hints of smoke and chalky minerality.
On the palate, it is rich yet remarkably precise, with a creamy mousse, vibrant acidity and impressive depth. Flavours of lemon, orchard fruit and pastry are layered with notes of hazelnut and saline minerality, leading to a long, dry and focused finish. Produced in very limited quantities, this single-vintage Champagne beautifully balances power, elegance and terroir expression.
Ben's Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is an outstanding choice for collectors and lovers of artisan Grower Champagne. Pair it with lobster, roasted turbot, duck breast or aged Comté cheese. Enjoy now after a short decant, or cellar for 8–10 years to develop even greater complexity and depth.
