The 2024 Weingut Knoll Grüner Veltliner Loibenberg Smaragd is a concentrated Wachau white from the warm, sun-exposed Ried Loibenberg vineyard. The nose shows ripe apricot, yellow pear and pineapple with candied citrus, honeysuckle, white pepper and fresh herbs, underpinned by a distinctive stony mineral character.
On the palate, it is full-bodied yet finely structured, with ripe stone fruit balanced by firm acidity and a precise mineral line. Pear, apricot and citrus are joined by white pepper, sage and subtle savoury notes, while a saline edge brings freshness to the long, focused finish. The 2024 has excellent structure for further bottle development.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Grüner Veltliner drinkers who enjoy serious Wachau whites with concentration, savoury spice and mineral depth. Enjoy with schnitzel, roast pork, grilled fish, roast chicken, mushroom risotto or richer seafood dishes, or cellar for further development.
