CHATEAU DE FUISSE
Château de Fuissé is an historic family-owned estate in the Mâconnais sub-region of Burgundy, France, best known for its elegant Chardonnay-based white wines from the Pouilly‑Fuissé AOC. Located in the village of Fuissé in Saône-et-Loire, the château has been owned and operated by the Vincent family since 1862, with the fifth generation now leading production and preserving a long tradition of quality winemaking.
The estate’s vineyards total around 40 hectares of vines, predominantly planted with Chardonnay, including top parcels in Pouilly-Fuissé itself as well as holdings in Saint-Véran and Mâcon-Villages appellations. These diverse sites, spread across limestone and clay soils, allow the domaine to craft wines that express both freshness and complexity — from lively, mineral-driven village wines to more concentrated expressions that show depth and ageing potential.
Château de Fuissé’s wines are classic examples of high-quality Burgundy whites: vibrant yet balanced, with aromas and flavours of citrus, orchard fruits, minerality, and subtle oak when barrel-aged. Premier expressions like the Pouilly-Fuissé “Le Clos” or Tête de Cuvée showcase riper fruit and complexity that can develop beautifully with a few years of cellaring, while more accessible Mâcon-Villages bottlings deliver bright acidity and freshness.
The château itself — part historic residence, part working domaine — also reflects the region’s deep viticultural heritage, with architecture dating to the 15th century and a longstanding connection to its terroir.
In essence, Château de Fuissé is seen as one of the leading ambassadors of Pouilly-Fuissé, representing the refined side of southern Burgundy Chardonnay, and making wines that combine clarity, structure, and a strong sense of place.
