2024 Cascina Penna-Currado Derthona Colli Tortonesi Timorasso E.P. comes from the hills of Colli Tortonesi and is produced by Cascina Penna‑Currado, the new project of Luca Currado and Elena Penna following decades of winemaking at Vietti. The wine is made from 100% Timorasso, one of Piedmont’s most distinctive indigenous white grapes.
Timorasso has become increasingly famous for its complexity and ageing potential, often described as the “White Barolo” of Piedmont because of its structure, minerality and ability to evolve over time.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, Timorasso is one of the Italian white varieties we love recommending to customers looking for something serious and age-worthy beyond the usual Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc. The 2024 Cascina Penna-Currado Derthona is elegant, mineral and beautifully structured. It pairs wonderfully with seafood, risotto, roasted poultry and aged cheeses, and will continue to develop complexity with a few years in the cellar.
