The Bruno Paillard Brut Assemblage 2024 is the latest vintage release from one of Champagne’s most respected independent houses. Founded in Reims in 1981, Bruno Paillard built his reputation on low-dosage Champagnes, extended lees ageing and an unwavering focus on purity and elegance. The Assemblage vintage cuvée is produced only in exceptional years and represents a meticulous blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from some of Champagne’s finest crus, combining the richness of a vintage wine with the precision and freshness that define the house style.
The nose reveals lemon curd, white peach and citrus blossom layered with brioche, toasted almonds and chalky minerality. The palate is refined yet powerful, with a fine persistent mousse, vibrant acidity and impressive depth. Notes of grapefruit, orchard fruits and pastry complexity carry through a long, saline finish. Recent reviews of the Assemblage cuvée have highlighted its remarkable balance, concentration and ageing potential, with previous vintages regularly receiving scores in the mid-90s from leading critics.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A superb vintage Champagne that perfectly captures the Bruno Paillard style of finesse, purity and precision. Complex enough for serious Champagne enthusiasts yet wonderfully approachable, it pairs beautifully with oysters, lobster, scallops, roast chicken and fine seafood dishes. Drinking beautifully upon release, but it has the structure and balance to evolve gracefully for 10–15 years or more.
