The Bruno Paillard Première Cuvée NV is the signature Champagne of one of the region’s few remaining independent family-owned houses. Founded in Reims in 1981, Bruno Paillard quickly established a reputation for meticulous blending and extended ageing. Première Cuvée is crafted from more than 30 crus across Champagne, blending Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier with a significant proportion of reserve wines dating back decades, creating a Champagne of remarkable consistency, depth and finesse.
The nose reveals grapefruit, lemon zest and redcurrant alongside notes of brioche, toasted almonds and dried fruits. Fine, persistent bubbles carry a palate that is both elegant and complex, combining citrus, orchard fruits and subtle pastry notes with a chalky mineral backbone. James Suckling and Jeb Dunnuck have both awarded the wine 94 points, while Wine Advocate rated it 92+ points, praising its freshness, balance and precision.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A benchmark non-vintage Champagne that consistently overdelivers for quality and sophistication. Refined, complex and effortlessly drinkable, it pairs beautifully with oysters, lobster, smoked salmon, sushi, roast chicken and soft cheeses. Equally suited as an aperitif or at the dining table, it is ready to enjoy now but will reward a few years of cellaring for additional richness and complexity.
