JM SELEQUE

J-M Sélèque is a family-owned grower Champagne house based in Pierry, in the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay. The domaine was established in the 1960s when Henri Sélèque planted vines in 1965 and began bottling under the family label in 1969. Today, the estate is led by the third generation, Jean-Marc Sélèque, who, together with his wife Oriane, has brought a strong focus on terroir expression, ecological vineyard practices, and sensitive winemaking.

The domaine farms around nine hectares of vines spread across 45 parcels in seven villages, including Pierry, Moussy, Épernay, Mardeuil, Dizy, Boursault, and Vertus. The vineyards are planted to approximately 50% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Meunier, and 10% Pinot Noir, with an average vine age of 40 years. Farming follows organic and biodynamic principles, with minimal chemical intervention and a deep emphasis on soil vitality and sustainability.

In the cellar, Jean-Marc Sélèque employs a thoughtful combination of vessels—stainless steel, oak barrels, concrete eggs, and amphorae—tailored to each cuvée. The wines are aged extensively on the lees, with low additions of sulfur, restrained dosage, and minimal or no fining and filtration. This approach ensures Champagnes that are pure, precise, and reflective of their origins.

The range includes the flagship non-vintage Solessence Extra Brut, prized for its finesse, mineral clarity, and balance of freshness with depth. Single-parcel expressions such as the “Soliste” cuvées highlight Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, or Meunier from specific plots, while blends like Quintette and Partition showcase Jean-Marc’s ability to weave complexity and elegance from diverse terroirs. Together, these wines capture the identity of the Sélèque family vineyards and have cemented the domaine’s reputation as one of the most exciting names in grower Champagne today.
