The 2024 Henschke Johann’s Garden is a Barossa Valley blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Mataro, sourced from low-yielding old vines at least 35 years of age. The nose is fragrant with raspberry, black cherry and fresh plum, layered with violet, lavender, bergamot, liquorice and gentle spice.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and plush with redcurrant, pomegranate and rhubarb supported by lively acidity and supple, fine-grained tannins. The varieties are vinified separately before spending 10 months in predominantly seasoned oak hogsheads, preserving the vibrant fruit while adding subtle savoury depth and cedar.
