The 2023 E. Guigal Côtes du Rhône Rouge is a classic Rhône Valley blend of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre. The nose shows blackberry, dark cherry and red berries with violet, pepper and dried herb notes, giving the wine a distinctly savoury Rhône character.
On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied with ripe dark fruit, fresh acidity and smooth, rounded tannins. Traditional fermentation with extended skin contact builds structure, while around 18 months of ageing in large oak foudres adds depth without overwhelming the fruit. The finish is balanced, spicy and persistent.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for drinkers who enjoy generous, savoury Rhône reds with plenty of fruit and spice. Enjoy now or cellar over the next 5–7 years. Ideal with roast lamb, grilled steak, beef dishes, charcuterie or mature cheeses.
