DOMAINE LA SUFFRENE
Domaine La Suffrène is a family-owned estate located in the renowned AOC Bandol appellation of Provence. The domaine spans approximately 50 to 60 hectares of clay-limestone soils across the communes of La Cadière-d’Azur and Le Castellet. With deep roots in traditional viticulture, the estate adheres to low yields, manual harvesting, and rigorous grape selection to capture the expressive character of Bandol’s terroir. For many years, grapes from the estate were sold to a cooperative, but in 1996, Cédric Gravier, with the support of his grandfather, transitioned the property into a fully independent estate, bottling under its own label and ushering in a new era of quality-focused winemaking.
The estate’s flagship wines include several well-regarded cuvées. The Bandol Rosé “Millésimé” is crafted from a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache, Cinsault, and Carignan, and is known for its red fruit notes, smooth texture, and refined dry profile. The “Sainte Catherine” rosé offers a fuller-bodied expression of Mourvèdre, delivering complex flavors of spice, almond, and marmalade. Domaine La Suffrène also produces powerful and age-worthy reds—primarily Mourvèdre blended with Grenache, Cinsault, and Carignan—under labels like the “Tradition” cuvée and “Les Lauves.”
Whether crafting elegant rosés or structured reds, the estate embodies a thoughtful blend of heritage and modernity, anchored in sustainability and a deep respect for the land. Domaine La Suffrène has become a standout name in Bandol, offering wines of impressive depth and character that remain true to their Provençal origins.
