DOMAINE COCHE-DURY
Domaine Coche-Dury is one of the most revered wine estates in Burgundy, France, located in the village of Meursault in the Côte de Beaune. The estate has a history dating back to the 1920s when Léon Coche began cultivating vineyards. It was later expanded and developed by his son Georges Coche in the 1960s. The domaine gained international acclaim under Jean-François Coche, who took over in the 1970s and elevated it to elite status through his meticulous vineyard practices and traditional winemaking. After his marriage to Odile Dury, the estate adopted the name Domaine Coche-Dury. In 2010, Jean-François handed over the reins to his son, Raphaël Coche, who continues the legacy of excellence.
The domaine primarily produces Chardonnay, with small amounts of Pinot Noir and Aligoté. Its Corton-Charlemagne and Meursault Premier Cru “Perrières” are among the most sought-after white wines in the world, known for their complexity, tension, and exceptional aging potential.
Coche-Dury’s wine style is defined by its purity, minerality, vibrant acidity, and elegance. The wines are made using traditional Burgundian methods, including hand harvesting, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, aging in oak barrels (typically with a careful percentage of new oak), and extended lees contact to enhance texture and complexity. The domaine is also known for its exacting standards in the vineyard, maintaining low yields and working with exceptional attention to detail.
With limited production and an almost cult-like following, Domaine Coche-Dury wines are both rare and highly collectible. Their consistent quality and expression of terroir have earned them legendary status among Burgundy producers, placing them at the pinnacle of white winemaking globally.
