COMTE ARMAND
Domaine Comte Armand, also known as Domaine du Clos des Épeneaux, is a distinguished winery located in Pommard, within Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune region. The estate’s centerpiece is the Clos des Épeneaux, a notable Premier Cru vineyard spanning approximately 5.23 hectares. This walled vineyard, or “clos,” was acquired by Nicolas Marey in the late 18th to early 19th century and became part of the Armand family’s holdings in 1828.
For much of its history, the domaine focused exclusively on the Clos des Épeneaux vineyard. In 1994, the estate expanded its holdings to include parcels in the neighboring villages of Volnay and Auxey-Duresses, diversifying its wine portfolio.
The wines from Clos des Épeneaux are renowned for their depth, complexity, and aging potential. They typically exhibit aromas of dark cherry, spice, and earth, with a structured palate featuring firm tannins and a lingering finish. These characteristics are a testament to the unique terroir of the vineyard and the estate’s commitment to quality winemaking.
