CHATEAU PALMER
Château Palmer is one of the most distinguished estates in Margaux, Bordeaux, renowned for producing wines of exceptional elegance, perfume, and depth. Classified as a Third Growth (Troisième Cru Classé) in the historic 1855 Médoc Classification, Château Palmer consistently performs at a level that rivals — and often surpasses — higher-ranked neighbors.
The estate spans around 66 hectares of vineyards planted predominantly with Merlot (about 47%), Cabernet Sauvignon (47%), and a touch of Petit Verdot (6%). This relatively high proportion of Merlot is unusual for the Left Bank and contributes to Palmer’s signature style — supple, velvety textures and rich aromatics, blending sensuality with structure.
Under the guidance of Thomas Duroux, who took over in 2004, Château Palmer has embraced biodynamic viticulture and a philosophy of precision and respect for the environment. Every parcel is managed individually, and the winemaking process is guided by intuition as much as by technology. The result is wines that express the estate’s gravelly terroir with striking purity and nuance.
In great vintages, Château Palmer delivers wines that are both powerful and graceful, offering layers of dark fruit, violets, graphite, and truffle, with an almost ethereal texture. The wines age beautifully, evolving for decades in bottle.
