CHATEAU BIAC

Château Biac is a historic estate with a rich legacy, dating back to the 17th century when it spanned 37 hectares. Today, it covers 15 hectares, with the original “Château,” now “Le Vieux Biac” guesthouses, and agricultural buildings repurposed as offices and entertainment spaces. The current Château was built in 1755 by the daughter of the Baron of Langoiran, likely using stones from the estate’s quarry. In the 19th century, an imposing square tower was added, enhancing its architectural charm.

Under the ownership of Gregoire Andrieu, Mayor of Langoiran, in 1820, Biac’s reputation flourished. The estate’s vines came from renowned sources such as Château d’Yquem for whites and St. Emilion’s finest for reds, earning praise for their “class and finesse” (Bordeaux et ses vins, 1874). Biac’s name may reference its location near the Garonne River or derive from the Latin suffix “ac,” meaning “at.” The estate’s strategic “eagle’s nest” location also connected it to Roman roads and medieval trade routes.

Biac’s revival began in 2006 with Tony and Youmna, a Lebanese family drawn to its potential. Joined by their children, Yasmina and Gabriel, they are committed to restoring Biac’s legacy. A breakthrough came when winemaking legend Patrick Léon, former technical director of Mouton Rothschild, became their red wine consultant, recognizing the estate’s unique qualities and the family’s dedication.

Today, Biac continues to produce exceptional wines while preserving its history and charm. Visitors are invited to experience its story firsthand and witness its journey toward becoming one of Bordeaux’s finest estates.
