2020 Armand Heitz Pommard 1er Cru Chanière is a single-vineyard Pinot Noir from one of Pommard’s classic Premier Cru sites, known for producing wines with depth and structure but also finesse. The nose is complex and slightly more open than typical Pommard, showing red cherry, blackberry and raspberry, layered with earth, spice and subtle leather notes. Compared to heavier Pommard expressions, Chanière tends to show a bit more aromatic lift and elegance while still retaining its terroir identity.
On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied with clear structure, offering flavours of dark and red berries, spice and earthy complexity, supported by fine, firm tannins and balanced acidity. The 2020 vintage brings ripeness and concentration, but with Armand Heitz’s style, the wine remains precise and controlled rather than heavy. The finish is long, savoury and slightly mineral, making it both serious and age-worthy.
