The Grappa di Bolgheri Sassicaia NV is an exceptional aged Italian grappa created through the collaboration between Tenuta San Guido, home of the legendary Sassicaia, and Poli Distillerie. Distilled from the fresh pomace of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc used to produce Sassicaia, it is matured for around four years in former Sassicaia oak barriques, developing remarkable depth, elegance and complexity.
On the palate, it is rich and beautifully integrated, with aromas and flavours of toasted hazelnut, dark chocolate, vanilla, dried fruit and gentle oak spice. The texture is smooth and warming, balanced by refined structure and a long, persistent finish with lingering notes of cocoa, roasted nuts and sweet spice.
Ben's Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is an outstanding grappa for collectors and lovers of premium Italian spirits. Best enjoyed neat at 18–20°C in a tulip-shaped glass to appreciate its layered aromatics and long finish. It also pairs beautifully with dark chocolate, almond biscuits or mature hard cheeses as an after-dinner digestif.
