The 2024 Bachelet-Monnot Maranges 1er Cru Les Clos Roussots is a finely structured 100% Pinot Noir from Maranges in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. This is only the domaine’s second release from the highly regarded Premier Cru, where hard limestone sits beneath brown marl and clay-rich soils. The 2024 is fragrant with raspberry, wild strawberry and hedgerow notes, backed by savoury and mineral complexity.
On the palate, it is taut and energetic, with juicy red berry fruit, fresh acidity and refined tannins providing a firm backbone. A shorter 7–8 day cuvaison was used to manage the vineyard’s naturally tannic character, resulting in impressive balance and fluidity. Neal Martin awarded 91–93 points, while Jasper Morris MW rated it 89–91 points.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Burgundy lovers seeking a perfumed yet structured Premier Cru Pinot Noir with genuine ageing potential. Best enjoyed from around 2028–2032, with further development possible beyond this window. Ideal with roast duck, pork belly, coq au vin, mushroom dishes or aged Comté.
