The 2024 Bachelet-Monnot Maranges 1er Cru Clos de la Boutière is a distinctive 100% Pinot Noir from Maranges in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. It comes from a single parcel of 90+ year-old mass-selection vines planted on clay-rich soils, giving the wine impressive depth and structure. The 2024 shows vibrant red cherry and raspberry alongside darker fruit, savoury notes and a fine mineral character.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and concentrated, with supple yet structured tannins, lively freshness and a long savoury finish. For 2024, the fruit was fully destemmed and no new oak was used, allowing the old-vine fruit and terroir to remain at the forefront. Neal Martin awarded the wine 91–93 points, highlighting its fine structure and decade-plus potential.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Pinot Noir lovers seeking a more structured and cellar-worthy expression of Maranges. Best from around 2029–2034, with potential to develop beyond that. Pair with roast duck, lamb, beef bourguignon, mushroom dishes or aged Comté.
