The 2023 Vincent Girardin Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Aigrots Rouge is a refined and beautifully structured Pinot Noir from one of Beaune’s most highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards. Situated on the northwestern slopes of Beaune, adjacent to the famous Clos des Mouches, the vineyard's clay-limestone soils and mature vines produce wines of both depth and elegance. Vincent Girardin’s careful winemaking and restrained oak influence allow the purity of the terroir to shine through.
The nose reveals black cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry alongside notes of violet, spice and subtle earthiness. The palate is silky yet concentrated, with vibrant red and dark berry fruit supported by fine tannins and fresh acidity. Hints of crushed stone, forest floor and gentle oak spice add complexity, leading to a long, savoury and beautifully balanced finish.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A classic Côte de Beaune Pinot Noir that combines power and finesse in equal measure. Elegant, expressive and highly food-friendly, it pairs beautifully with duck, roast chicken, pork loin and mushroom dishes. Enjoy now with a short decant, or cellar through 2038–2043 as it develops greater savoury complexity and Burgundian nuance.
