The 2023 Frankland Estate Smith Cullam Syrah is a limited-production, organically grown Syrah from the original Winery Block of the Isolation Ridge Vineyard in Frankland River, planted in 1988. Produced only in exceptional vintages, it shows blackberry, blueberry and dark cherry alongside lavender, cracked pepper, black olive and distinctive ironstone minerality.
On the palate, it is concentrated yet finely composed, with dark fruit, bright acidity and exceptionally fine, structured tannins. Savoury notes of pepper, herbs and olive combine with graphite and ferrous mineral characters, leading to a long, saline finish. Despite its depth, the wine retains the freshness and elegance characteristic of Frankland River Syrah.
