The 2023 Domaine Sauveroy Anjou Blanc Rivière Sauvage is an expressive Chenin Blanc from Anjou in the Loire Valley. Organically grown on schist and sandstone soils, it shows white peach, pear and quince alongside floral honey, fresh citrus and subtle mineral notes.
On the palate, it is dry, rounded and textured, with generous orchard fruit balanced by fresh acidity and a distinctive mineral backbone. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in sandstone amphorae is followed by 12 months on fine lees, building depth and texture without masking the purity of the Chenin Blanc. The finish is long, fresh and mineral-driven.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Chenin Blanc drinkers looking for a more textured and complex expression of Anjou. The amphora ageing brings depth while retaining freshness, fruit purity and mineral definition. Ideal with grilled lobster, roast turbot, scallops, sushi, roast chicken or creamy seafood dishes.
