The 2022 Château de Haute-Serre 'Lucter' Cahors is a beautifully expressive 100% Malbec from the historic Château de Haute-Serre, perched 300 metres above sea level on the limestone and blue clay soils of the Cahors plateau. Named after the Gallic hero Lucter, the wine is fermented at low temperatures in stainless steel with gentle extraction before ageing for 8–12 months in stainless steel and large oak foudres, followed by further bottle maturation. The nose is vibrant and aromatic, revealing blackcurrant, blackberry and stewed red fruits layered with peppermint, liquorice and subtle spice. The 2022 vintage was awarded 92 points by Bettane+Desseauve and a Silver Medal at the Global Malbec Masters.
On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with silky tannins, fresh acidity and impressive concentration. Rich cassis and dark berry fruit are balanced by savoury herbs, gentle pepper and mineral freshness, leading to a long, elegant finish with excellent structure and finesse. Powerful yet approachable, this is a modern Cahors that showcases the purity and character of French Malbec with excellent ageing potential.
