The 2022 Domaine Raquillet Mercurey Vieilles Vignes Rouge is a 100% Pinot Noir from Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise, sourced from three south-to-east-facing parcels with vines averaging around 60 years old. The nose shows fresh cherry, raspberry and darker forest fruits with subtle floral, spice and lightly earthy notes.
On the palate, it is supple and generous, with ripe red and dark fruit, balanced acidity and silky tannins. The old vines grow on clay-limestone soils, while natural fermentation and 12 months of maturation add depth without masking the Pinot Noir’s freshness. The warm 2022 season produced expressive fruit with good balance and density.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for those who enjoy approachable Mercurey with old-vine concentration, silky tannins and fresh Burgundy character. Enjoy now or cellar for further development over the next 4–6 years. Ideal with roast duck, grilled pork, mushroom dishes, roast chicken or beef.
