The 2019 Domaine Goisot Saint-Bris Corps de Garde Blanc is one of the most distinctive white wines produced in northern Burgundy. Made from old-vine Fié Gris (Sauvignon Gris), a rare and historic mutation of Sauvignon Blanc, the fruit comes from biodynamically farmed vineyards around Saint-Bris planted on Kimmeridgian limestone and clay soils similar to those found in nearby Chablis. Domaine Goisot has become the benchmark producer of the appellation, renowned for its commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture and for expressing the mineral character of this unique terroir.
The nose offers vibrant citrus, white peach, pear and grapefruit alongside floral, herbal and flinty mineral notes. Partially fermented and matured in older oak barrels, the wine combines freshness and tension with impressive texture and depth. The palate is saline and energetic, showing ripe citrus, stone fruit, chalky minerality and a long, structured finish. Critics have consistently praised the wine's purity, length and mineral drive, with community and professional ratings around the 90–91 point level.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A fascinating alternative to both Chablis and Loire Sauvignon Blanc, offering remarkable complexity and value. The combination of vibrant acidity, texture and mineral intensity makes it a superb match for oysters, scallops, grilled fish, crab, goat’s cheese and poultry dishes. Drinking beautifully now, but with enough concentration and structure to evolve gracefully through 2028–2030.
