The 2024 Sadie Family Swartland Twiswind is the inaugural release of an innovative white field blend from Eben Sadie's Paardeberg vineyard in Swartland. Planted with twelve Mediterranean grape varieties on weathered granite soils, the vineyard was designed to produce naturally fresh, site-driven wines suited to a warming climate. The nose is vibrant and expressive, offering aromas of lime, green apple and pear, layered with white flowers, wet stone and a distinctive saline minerality.
On the palate, it is beautifully textured with bright natural acidity and impressive precision. Flavours of citrus, orchard fruit and subtle herbal notes are supported by gentle lees complexity and a chalky mineral backbone, finishing long, dry and remarkably energetic. Fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in concrete tanks and seasoned wooden vats, the wine emphasises purity and terroir over winemaking influence.
Ben's Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an outstanding choice for collectors and lovers of distinctive, terroir-driven white wines. Pair with freshly shucked oysters, grilled kingfish, lobster, roast chicken or soft goat's cheese. While already showing impressive precision, it will reward cellaring over the next 10–15 years as additional complexity develops.
