The 2021 Coppabella Crest Chardonnay is a refined Tumbarumba Chardonnay crafted in a cool-climate Australian style that balances freshness, texture and mineral precision. Sourced from high-altitude vineyards planted at around 650 metres in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, the wine was whole bunch pressed and wild fermented with careful oak maturation to build complexity while preserving purity and regional character.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with vibrant acidity and a layered, elegant texture, delivering flavours of grapefruit, nectarine and lemon zest alongside subtle flint, cashew and gentle spicy oak notes. The wine shows excellent tension between bright citrus fruit and mineral structure, finishing long, crisp and finely balanced with restrained oak influence.
Ben’s Recommendation: At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent Chardonnay for customers who enjoy cool-climate styles with freshness, minerality and subtle oak complexity rather than overt richness. Tumbarumba’s alpine conditions give the wine precision and finesse while maintaining depth and texture. Drinking beautifully now and capable of evolving further over the next 5–8 years. Ideal with grilled seafood, roast chicken, mushroom dishes or creamy pasta.
