2023 Clos Thierriere Vouvray Les Pleurs is a vibrant Loire Valley white crafted from 100% Chenin Blanc by brothers Guillaume and Baptiste Frey in Vernou-sur-Brenne, within the Vouvray appellation. Sourced from multiple vineyard parcels with flint, clay, and limestone soils, the wine highlights the terroir-driven character that defines modern Vouvray.
Whole-bunch pressing and natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts preserve purity of fruit, followed by around seven months ageing on fine lees in tank, resulting in a dry style with texture and freshness.
On the nose, aromas of citrus oil, pear and crisp apple unfold with floral lift. The palate is dry yet gently textured, showing orchard fruit, subtle chalky minerality and a silky mouthfeel, finishing long and elegant with refreshing acidity.
"Les Pleurs" refers to the sap droplets that appear on vines as they awaken in early spring, symbolising renewal and the start of a new growing season.
This expressive Vouvray pairs beautifully with seafood, roast chicken, creamy cheeses or Loire-style goat cheese, and can be enjoyed young or cellared for additional complexity over the next few years.
