The 2024 Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Syrah is an organically grown, single-vineyard red from Frankland River in Western Australia. The wine combines 98% Syrah with 2% Viognier, producing an expressive nose of black cherry, blackberry and plum alongside violet, black pepper, dried herbs, aniseed and distinctive ironstone notes.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and energetic with concentrated dark fruit, fresh acidity and fine, gravelly tannins. Around 15% whole bunches are incorporated, while maturation takes place predominantly in large 3,500-litre French oak foudres, keeping the oak influence restrained and allowing the savoury, peppery and mineral character to remain prominent.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is an excellent choice for Syrah drinkers who enjoy fragrant, cool-climate reds with dark fruit, peppery spice, fine tannins and savoury complexity. Enjoy now with decanting or cellar for further development. Ideal with roast lamb, grilled beef, duck, slow-cooked pork, mushroom dishes or aged cheeses.
