The 2021 Elderton Command Shiraz is a flagship single-vineyard Barossa wine, presented here in a magnum (1500mL) format, enhancing both ageing potential and collectability. Sourced from a historic vineyard planted in 1894 in Nuriootpa, it represents one of Australia’s most iconic Shiraz expressions, with a long-standing reputation as a Langton’s Classified wine.
The nose is intensely expressive and layered, showing dark plum, blackberry and cassis, alongside liquorice, dark chocolate, mocha and spice. There is both richness and aromatic lift, with hints of forest floor and savoury complexity adding depth.
On the palate, it is full-bodied with a powerful yet seamless texture and ultra-fine, velvety tannins. Concentrated dark fruit, chocolate and spice unfold in layers, supported by balanced acidity and polished oak integration. The finish is exceptionally long, rich and luxurious, combining Barossa intensity with precision and finesse.
The magnum format allows the wine to age more slowly and develop greater complexity over time, making it particularly suited for long-term cellaring and special occasions.
