The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin “Bel Air” from Domaine Taupenot-Merme is more open and expressive today than the la Riotte, with the nose soaring from the glass in a gorgeous blend of red and black cherries, grilled meats, coffee bean, a superb base of black minerality, fresh herb tones, woodsmoke and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and soil-driven in personality, with a lovely core of sappy fruit, fine-grained tannins and a long, seamlessly balanced and very refined finish. Great juice.
