A more generous and approachable Hunter Valley Semillon from Andrew Thomas, sourced from the volcanic red soils of the Broke Fordwich subregion. Allowed extra time on the vine compared to the tighter Synergy style, this wine offers greater ripeness and early-drinking appeal while still retaining classic Hunter freshness. The nose shows ripe citrus, white peach and melon alongside lemongrass, pear skin and gentle tropical fruit notes. There’s a softer, riper aromatic profile balanced by bright freshness and mineral lift.
On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with juicy citrus, kiwi and stone fruit flavours carried by soft acidity and a silky texture. Fresh and vibrant while slightly richer and rounder than traditional Hunter Semillon styles, finishing long and highly drinkable.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A fantastic modern Hunter Semillon for those who enjoy a slightly more generous style without losing freshness and varietal purity. More approachable in youth than classic lean Hunter Semillon, making it excellent for immediate drinking with seafood, oysters, roast chicken or fresh salads. Drink now through 2032+.
