The 2023 Antinori Cervaro della Sala IGT from Umbria, Italy is a true masterpiece of winemaking. This vintage showcases a bright straw yellow color with golden reflections, hinting at the richness that awaits. On the nose, the wine reveals intense aromas of ripe orchard fruits, such as peach and apricot, alongside subtle notes of vanilla and toasted oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and velvety, with a perfect balance of acidity and minerality. Flavors of tropical fruits, citrus, and a touch of honey create a symphony of flavors that linger on the finish. This wine is a true expression of the land it comes from, with a perfect blend of tradition and innovation. It is best enjoyed alongside a hearty meal, and will no doubt leave a lasting impression.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is absolutely one of the best Italian Chardonnay expressions, and very much aligned with a Chassagne-Montrachet style Burgundy. It delivers that classic combination of creamy texture, well-integrated oak and a strong mineral backbone, but with slightly more generosity and accessibility than traditional Burgundy. This makes it an excellent choice for customers who love white Burgundy (especially Chassagne or Meursault), are looking for something premium with better value, or appreciate complex, food-driven Chardonnay. It pairs beautifully with lobster, truffle dishes, roast chicken or creamy sauces, and has the structure to age 10–15+ years. Italian white that drinks like premium Burgundy – rich, complex, and seriously impressive.
