The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint-Jacques bursts from the glass with a stunning bouquet of orange rind, peonies, ripe wild berries, cassis, exotic spices and espresso roast, framed by a beautifully integrated application of new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, velvety and multidimensional, with ripe acids, a deep and concentrated core and a long, sapid finish. This is one of the riper wines in the cellar, with just over 13% natural alcohol, but it’s beautifully balanced.
