The Chartogne-Taillet Cuvée Les Orizeaux 2020 (Disgorged April 2025) is a beautifully expressive and finely structured single-vineyard Champagne from one of the Montagne de Reims’ most thoughtful grower producers. Produced entirely from Pinot Noir grown in the sandy and limestone-rich Les Orizeaux parcel in Merfy, the wine reflects Alexandre Chartogne’s terroir-focused philosophy, combining low-intervention winemaking with remarkable site transparency and precision. The nose reveals wild strawberry, blood orange and red apple layered alongside dried herbs, brioche and subtle smoky mineral notes, giving the wine impressive depth and aromatic lift.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied with exceptionally fine mousse, vibrant natural acidity and a tightly focused mineral core. Layers of red berry fruit, citrus peel and savoury lees complexity are balanced by saline freshness and gentle Pinot richness, finishing long, dry and beautifully persistent with outstanding energy and finesse. The warm yet balanced 2020 vintage brings additional texture and concentration while preserving the wine’s freshness and mineral detail.
