The 2023 Alex Moreau Bourgogne Blanc is a superb introduction to the style of one of Chassagne-Montrachet’s rising stars. Sourced from parcels surrounding Chassagne-Montrachet and neighbouring villages, the wine is crafted with the same attention to detail as the domaine’s renowned Premier and Grand Cru wines. Alex Moreau has quickly established a reputation for producing precise, terroir-driven Burgundies that balance richness with remarkable freshness.
The nose reveals white peach, lemon curd and citrus blossom, with subtle notes of hazelnut, flint and gentle oak spice. The palate is beautifully textured and energetic, combining ripe stone fruit with vibrant acidity and a fine mineral backbone. Refined and balanced, it offers impressive depth and complexity for a regional Bourgogne Blanc. Neal Martin awarded the wine 90–92 points, praising its purity, tension and excellent value.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A Bourgogne Blanc that drinks well above its classification and a fantastic entry point into the Alex Moreau range. Fresh, elegant and highly versatile, it pairs beautifully with grilled fish, scallops, roast chicken, creamy pasta and soft cheeses. Enjoy now or cellar through 2029–2032 for additional complexity.
