The 2020 Armand Heitz Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Tête du Clos is a powerful and age-worthy Premier Cru Chardonnay from Chassagne-Montrachet in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. Tête du Clos forms part of the broader Morgeot Premier Cru sector, but Armand Heitz bottles this parcel separately because of its distinctive terroir and old-vine character. The Chardonnay comes from vigorous old vines propagated through massal selection and rooted in soils particularly rich in stones and silt, giving the wine both concentration and a persistent mineral structure. Heitz's philosophy is deliberately low-intervention, with a strong focus on agroecology and regenerative farming and minimal inputs in the cellar, allowing individual vineyard character to remain at the centre of the finished wine.
