The 2023 Dalwhinnie Moonambel Chardonnay comes from the estate’s high-altitude vineyard at Moonambel in Victoria’s Pyrenees, sitting around 595 metres above sea level. It shows ripe pear, white peach and citrus with almond, nougat and subtle mineral notes, combining generous Chardonnay fruit with the freshness of this elevated site.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and textured, with stone fruit and citrus supported by fresh acidity and a fine mineral line. Dalwhinnie’s established Moonambel Chardonnay approach includes whole-bunch pressing, wild barrel fermentation and lees maturation, bringing gentle creaminess and savoury complexity while maintaining freshness.
Ben’s Recommendation:
At Wine More Cellars, this is a great choice for Chardonnay drinkers who enjoy textured, cool-climate Australian whites with restrained richness and mineral character. Pair with grilled snapper, roast chicken, salmon, creamy seafood dishes or mushroom risotto, and enjoy now or allow further bottle development.
