The 2024 Quealy Tussie Mussie Pinot Noir comes from the Quealy family’s organically managed Tussie Mussie Vineyard in Merricks North on the Mornington Peninsula. Planted to the low-yielding 777 Pinot Noir clone on rich volcanic red clay soils, the vineyard produced small, concentrated berries in the low-yielding 2024 season. The wine was fermented with a portion of whole bunches and matured for 10 months in French oak, delivering a beautifully expressive and site-driven Pinot Noir.
The nose offers red cherry, raspberry, cooked strawberry and pot-pourri with subtle earthy and spicy notes. Soft and supple on the palate, it combines vibrant red fruit with silky tannins, savoury complexity and a gentle mineral freshness. Aaron Brasher awarded the wine 93 points, praising its generosity, texture and finely balanced structure.
Ben’s Recommendation:
A charming and highly drinkable Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir that balances bright fruit with savoury depth. Its silky texture and freshness make it a natural match for duck, roast pork, grilled salmon, charcuterie and mushroom dishes. Enjoy now or cellar through 2030 for added complexity.
